Overview

This course is a continuation of Nursing Research I which includes research design and methodology. Lectures and discussion includes collection of data, analysis, interpretation, summary, conclusion and recommendation. Advising is done throughout the practicum sessions. The final output of the course is a complete project which is presented during the annual students-faculty research forum.

Intended learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding:

1- Differentiate the different kinds of nursing research methodology and designs.

2- Discuss the steps in sampling and data collection.

3- Explain the use of statistics, scales of measurement and graphical presentation of data.

4- Enumerate the components of data analysis and communication and utilization of research findings.

Mental skills:

1- Define research methodology and design.

2- Recall the steps of sampling procedure, developing of nursing research instrument and data collection.

3- Analyze the statistical implication of the gathered data.

4- Enumerate the components of the research report.

Scientific and professional skills:

1- Carry out the whole research writing report from chapters 1 to 5.

2- Demonstrate skills and competencies of research making under the hallmarks of a good nurse researcher.

3- Apply principles and criteria of a reliable, valid and honest data gathering and interpretation of findings.

4- Exhibit confidence and competence in defending the research writing report during the pre-oral and Research forum presentation.

General skills

1- Modifies if needed the research writing report soon as corrections from the panelists of the defense are available.

2- Accept professional responsibility in revising and documenting the needed information in the research report.

3- Apply essential skills and attitude in developing instrument, gathering/collection of needed data, to the interpretation of findings until the dissemination of findings.
